ACTIVITIES

Carminish House is ideally situated to indulge the following pursuits,
and more...

Walking
Harris is the southern half of what is known as the ‘Long Island’; the northern half being Lewis. North Harris is mountainous, with An Clisham its highest point, at 799 m (2621 ft).

The eastern seaboard is rugged and contrasts sharply with the fertile south-western shores on which the Atlantic waters have formed a great many superb beaches, some of which stretch for miles.

Bird watching & wildlife
This south-western area is a haven for bird-watchers, walkers and sea life spotters. See Leverburgh website for more details

Fishing
The local lochs with their salmon and trout fishing are a paradise for fishermen. Contact Rodel Fishery or Obbe Fishings for details. Sea angling also available - contact Harris Sea Angling Club, Telephone:+44 (0)1859 530310 .

Boat Trips
Boat Trips are organised for fishing / sight-seeing or to land on an uninhabited island, which you can explore at your leisure. You can also take a day trip out to St Kilda from Leverburgh. See Leverburgh website for more details.
